Is AI going to kill my web design business?

I get this question a lot. Sometimes directly, sometimes through weird looks when I mention that I design websites and use AI tools.

Let me just put it this way:
AI isn’t going to kill my business unless I ignore it or fight against it.

AI is here. It’s not going anywhere.

The truth is, AI isn’t a trend. It’s not this thing that’ll fizzle out in six months.
It’s already changing the way businesses work, and that includes the world of web design.

I use AI every single day. Mainly ChatGPT to speed up content ideas or knock out repetitive tasks, and automations in client work to help things run smoother behind the scenes. Nothing crazy or fancy. Just practical stuff that saves time, brainpower, and energy.

It helps me do what I do faster. And in a world where speed matters, that’s a big deal.

But is it tToo fFast?

AI can absolutely wipe out jobs. It’s already doing that.
And I’m not going to sugar-coat it. If I stayed stuck doing things the old way, refused to adapt, or ignored it altogether, then yeah… AI might have replaced me eventually.

But I’m not here to get replaced. I’m here to evolve.

That’s the thing: if you use AI smartly, it’s not a threat. It’s a tool.
If you fight it or drag your feet, it’ll leave you behind.

People still want people

AI can help build websites faster. It can write copy. It can even choose colors or layouts now.
But you know what it can’t do?

It can’t understand your audience’s vibe.
It can’t sense what feels good or looks too stiff.
It can’t pull out the story behind your brand and make it come alive visually.

It’s a machine. A powerful one, but it’s still missing the human side.
So yeah, you can use AI to spit out a site. But if you want one that connects, converts, and actually feels right, you still need a real human behind it.

How I use AI for my clients

Most of my clients are open to new tech. They want their business to run smoother, get more bookings, waste less time on repetitive admin stuff. They just don’t want to set it all up themselves (because who has time for that?).

That’s where I come in.

I use AI-powered automations like chatbots, forms that trigger workflows, and systems that follow up with leads automatically. These aren’t gimmicks. They help my clients get more done, make more money, and still keep that personal, human experience in place.

The best part?
When I set these up for clients, I also maintain them. So if something breaks or changes, they don’t have to deal with it. That’s the whole point: more time back, more money made.

AI isn’t the enemy – wasting time is

If you’re a business owner trying to do it all, AI isn’t your problem.
Not using it wisely is.

I’m not scared of AI taking my job. I’m using it to help me do my job better, for myself and for my clients.
