Why I build websites with Showit (and sometimes Wix)

Let me back up a little. I didn’t start out building websites, I actually started with copywriting. Writing the words that go on the websites. And for a while, I thought that was what I wanted to do… until I realised something.

I didn’t just want to write the words, I wanted to build the whole vibe.

The more I worked on website copy, the more I found myself caring about how the page looked, how it felt to click around, and how everything connected. So I started playing around with website design. And that’s when things shifted.

Trying all the things (and getting frustrated)

My first stop? Wix Studio. This was right when it was still pretty new, and let me tell you it wasn’t quite ready. I kept getting stuck and having to contact support constantly. I like figuring things out on my own, but this was too much. So I gave up on Wix Studio and moved on.

Next up: WordPress with Divi. That lasted a few months. I spent ages trying to learn everything and still couldn’t get it to work the way I wanted. Free -real human- support was pretty much nonexistent (unless you counted on their Facebook group). I had all these ideas in my head, but getting them onto the screen? Way too technical. Way too frustrating.

Then, I tried Showit. And honestly? I should’ve just started there from the beginning.

Why Showit just works for me

With Showit, I can finally build websites the way I want to build them – easily, creatively, and without all the tech headaches.

Showit is actually designed to be used for creatives, photographers, and wellness businesses. It gives me full creative freedom. I can drag and drop literally anything. I can design desktop and mobile separately, without one messing up the other. That drove me mad with Divi. Change something on mobile and bam, your desktop layout’s ruined (unless you get very technical…). Not with Showit.

Now I build websites that feel clean, custom, and kind of… fun. The kind of sites that stand out and connect with people. The kind of sites that reflect my clients’ energy – whether they’re pet brands, wellness businesses, or soulful creators.

But what about Wix?

I still use Wix, actually, but for a different reason. I offer free websites to animal rescues, and for that, Wix is the perfect fit.

It’s easy for them to use, the hosting is affordable, and I can still make something beautiful and functional without overcomplicating things. There’s a big misconception that Wix is just for DIYers who want to swap text and images, but it’s a legit platform for designers too, especially when used intentionally.

For me, Showit is the tool I use to earn, and Wix is the tool I use to give back.

I can’t physically volunteer at rescues (though I’d love to), so giving them a website is my way of showing up. It’s a small thing that can make a big difference.

What it’s really like behind the scenes

I’d love to say I’m sitting in a cute café or some cozy design studio, but honestly? Most days I’m standing in my van, laptop propped up, pups snoozing next to me on the couch, cars driving by or it’s quiet with birds singing into my ears, depending on where I’ve parked.

I build for freedom. I design for clarity. And I create for people who care about their customers, their animals, their healing work, their purpose.

It’s not just about a pretty site. It’s about building something that speaks directly to your ideal client. That makes them stop scrolling. That feels different. That converts.

Simple. Empowering. And maybe with a little cute detail or quirky twist to make it yours.
